So as I mentioned last time the death of Lil Kim came as quite a blow to those of us in the Slightly Off-Topic community, but the moment was prepared for, and there’s a big, heapin’ helpin’ of crazy safely in charge of the country, so we can all relax… sort of…
I still think it’s weird that Jong Un is in charge as it would seem that a family dynasty is relatively diametrically-opposed to the aims of a communist regime, but I guess that in reality function under a dictatorial cult of the great leader more than under a communist regime, so it is what it is…
I was discussing my plans for introducing L’il Young Un as the replacement for L’il Kim with another webcomic artist I know, and his response was “Comedy is hard” without any further elaboration. I shall choose to assume that he meant that “incorporating such real world developments into a webcomic without seeming overly contrived can be difficult, but son… you nailed it!” On the off-chance that he meant something else, I’ll just refer him to that first bit of dialog!

Holy crap on a hot tin roof! I stopped counting after the 100th layer on this one… why are the simple ideas always, always the hardest to draw?!?
Interesting times in the world, lately. The Egyptian military dissolved parliament today and said they’d hold the reins for six months or until a civilian government could be elected. Here’s hoping for the Egyptians that the freedom they seek comes to pass…
…and while we’re at it, here’s some hope for the Yemeni people… and the Algerians… and… well, the list goes on…

Today was supposed to be the introduction of our new children’s feature “Trooper Trent”, but well, our good friend L’il Mahmoud, God love him, just can’t seem to help himself when it comes to stand-up comedy. Just put a mic in front of his face and hilarity is sure to ensue. When I saw the story this morning, I just had to bump trent to give L’il M the stage. As a perk, it gave me to a chance to introduce our newest cast member, the chromatically-challenged Li’ Khrushchev. I suspect he’ll be having a long talk with Mahmoud about copyright and the borrowing of other’s words without permission or proper credit.

ALWAYS SAVE YOUR WORK!!! I was almost finished with this when DTE was kind enough to kill the power, and guess who wasn’t saving their work?!? Bad, bad me.
This seems to be a theme with me lately, as I was working on the code for the store last night, and was moving everything in to sections that made more sense with the code, and I managed to delete EVERYTHING. (Did I mention that you should always save your work?). I then started reuploading images, and creating products only to realize at the end that I had uploaded the low res images instead of the proper ones, so once again, I got to delete everything (though on purpose that time). I then started uploading the proper images, but only have four of them associated with products (it’s amazingly time consuming when you are starting from scratch). I will continue to assign the images you can’t see to products over the next day or two.
In the mean time, however, you can pop over to the store and have a look. The current designs are just the first four on the list of image, and aren’t truly representative of the store as a whole (though they are very representative of my daughter’s current Hetalia obsession), but I had to start rebuilding somewhere. It’s set up, so you can click on an image to see what products are associated with them. Printfection has a tremendous amount of shirt styles available, and I’ve activated most of them for each design (because how do I know what people like to wear). I’ve done a number of Printfection shirts, and the quality is always good. The dark shirts are a bit expensive, though. I may look for an alternate vendor for dark-specific designs. (Contest winners: if you see a design pop up over the next day or two that you like, let me know, and I’ll get it sent to you.)
Oh L’il Kim, I see you’re at it again. I’m not sure why you get to constantly fling missles and test semi-nuclear weapons, but L’il Lee can’t play with his ships. It seems unfair.
(For those wondering why there was no contest clue last Sunday or today, it’s because a hard drive crash ate my contest font. I’m in the process of recreating it, and we should be back up and running next week.)
HopeForHaitiNow.Org Help as you can and thanks.
’nuff said.
So, here we are at 300 strips and we are much less self-referential than intended, but what are you going to do? It’s Sunday which means it’s contest time again. Maybe there’s a webcomic out there that’s been working to help Haiti all along. I’d accept their next goal as the Sunday code.
You know, I was beginning to think that L’il Kim had forgotten about us as the North has been relatively quiet of late. I needn’t have worried, of course, as the Kimster is up to his usual shenanigans!
It meant, of course, that I couldn’t simply sleep in and upload the comic meant for Tuesday, of course, but you know me. I luvs to comment on the news. Plus I guess that means that Sunday’s comic is done (unless there is some other news item that tickles my fancy).
Also, I can’t believe that L’il Mahmoud has an Atomic Energy Lab! I’ve wanted one of the A. C. Gilbert kits for years, but they are impossible to find and way too expensive.
…Lucky Mahmoud…
