I realize that Curling is the eternal butt of Winter Olympic jokes, but this last week has been so great for me. I mean, I come home from work and Curling is on the TV… every single day! And then… at 10pm… after dinner and family time and what not… Curling comes on again! It’s FABULOUS!
…and then came Wednesday… a rest day… I don’t know what they were thinking… I didn’t know what to do with myself… I started to clean the basement. What the heck is that about?!? Laurie didn’t actually try to tranq me or anything, but she could see the tension building up in my system. She did get me to sit down and watch the Boilers just eek one out against Minnesota, but yowza! I need my curling fix… let’s see… just 17 more hours…
I’m not going to make it…
Brittany had her four wisdom teeth cut out yesterday, so all the complaints about the art should be sent directly to me!
On the plus side, I’m actually doodling now and didn’t resort to a photo-strip. We’ll call that growth, eh?
So the Olympics have come and gone. US coverage was miserable as always. Lots and lots of coverage, of course, just very few sports covered, overall. Uverse still doesn’t carry the CBC so NBC was the only broadcast coverage available to me…so it was pretty much just highlights and a daily medal check on Yahoo.
Except for the Michael Phelps stuff, of course. Had to support the Ann Arbor boys, right?
In any case, it’s over and we just have two years left until we get back to the important sport…you know…Curling!!!
Remember when people were freaking out during the Reagan years because of a three trillion dollar national deficit? Well, G Dub has given half a trillion in this year alone! Don’t get me wrong, I thought my stimulus check was a godsend like everyone else, but you can’t get out of debt by borrowing more money which is all the program accomplished. More importantly, of course, is the war which continues to drag on…and on…and on…
And barring some drastic action from the next President it will continue to drag on because Iraq is headed for a civil war, and the powers that be seem determined to stop it. But here’s the dirty little secret, outside of total suppression of the population, an outside force can not stop a civil war…they can only delay it.
So, no medal for President Dubya…besides…if he did get a medal, we’d probably have to melt it down to save a bank…
