Okay, so maybe the news rooms of the world don’t routinely shut down between the holidays, but the University of Michigan sure does! However, since I run one of the core services labs, I’m expected to stay open during the shutdown. We do get a trickle of business, but man does the campus start to feel empty after a while…
However, today is New Year’s Eve which means I get to indulge in the annual making of the Nog. Now, I don’t care if you say you don’t like Egg Nog. I don’t care if you drink that… stuff… they sell in stores. If you have not had Egg Nog made according to my family recipe, you simply have not had Egg Nog. Forget what you know, run to the store for some ingredients and follow this recipe. IMMEDIATELY!!!! You will not be disappointed. Trust me! I’m serious. Get going. I want to hear how it turned out, and I want pictures.
…and remember… just this one day of the year, rich and sweet is your friend.

I didn’t even have Egg Nog this year 🙁
Anyway Happy New Year 2010 to you and your family!
Thank you. I could send you some nog, but it might lose a bit of flavor in the shipping!
I love the “that…stuff…they sell in stores” part. This Egg Nog had better not disappoint! (Actually, I might have to ask you for the recipe next year…) And who am I kidding – like speearr, I didn’t even have any this year!
Shame. I have about a glass left if you hurry over… Happy New Year!
I’m going to have to try that eggnog tonight! All the “good” recipes I found this year include lots of booze (to “cook” the eggs), and I don’t drink… 🙁
Hillers (and maybe Busch’s) sells pasteurized eggs so that you don’t need to worry about anything “unclean”… though I survived about 38 years of the regular eggs before switching to pasteurized… You could also “custardize” the eggs, but it’s not as good…
