So another oil rig explodes in the Gulf. Yay! To be fair, I’m sure BP had nothing to do with it… mostly. 😉
At least the rig wasn’t producing at the time. Hopefully, this means no additional leaking, but maybe the oil industry should stop using those explosive bolts during construction…
I’m just saying…
UPDATE: Okay… apparently the rig *was* producing, and there *is* a slick, but probably very containable…

*facepalm* *headdesk*
ANOTHER one?? Oh, fer chrissake….
Yep. It goes Gulf, Michigan, Gulf… well, anywhere other than Michigan, please!
Jackson refineries? Downriver storage tanks? Those Canadian pipelines under the Detroit river? And that’s just over here….
No, No, NO!!!! I said NO Michigan! It’s someone else’s turn!
What gets me is that (as far as I can tell) deep-sea drilling is perfectly safe with current technology. It’s the people in charge of making the “this one’s cheaper” decisions that are dangerous.
Either way, I still vote for alternatives that don’t require drilling. Biomass, Biofuel, solar, batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, whatever.
The “this one’s cheaper” decisions have that effect on a lot of industries…
