Having never heard of these books until this summer when they showed up EVERYWHERE (and I do mean everywhere… I’m pretty sure I remember seeing them in Autozone for Christ’s sake!), the titles always bugged me until I figured this out…

I had no clue what this was until a quick Wikipedia search. To be fair, the original Swedish titles were a lot more varied.
(Thanks to Wikipedia I just sounded relatively knowledgeable about something I hadn’t even really heard of until 15 minutes ago).
I agree about the original titles, but “The Stieg Larsson Estate’s English Languague Publisher’s Mad Libs” just sounded wordy…
When I was in high school we’d get drunk and do these, 88-90 mind you. I’m sure I have some in a box somewhere.
I remember them being a big deal back in grade school… maybe junior high. Back when the SNL dude was doing sniglets…
I’ve read the movie spoilers on these book adaptations. WTF? Who is this sociopath and could he PLEASE address his unresolved mother issues/misogynistic tendencies toward women with a therapist and not through a book/movie deal?
Nice slam on the contrived titles, by the way. Well-played, sir.
According to wikipedia, he witnessed a gang-rape as a teen and didn’t lift a finger to help. Apparently, these books and their dynamic central characters are his way of dealing with the guilt… I guess… I’ve not read them… the titles are too dumb.
Dealing with guilt over witnessing a brutal attack by writing about MORE brutal attacks? Again, WTF?
He’s not going to get much sympathy from most women with that explanation.
Well, he’s dead if that helps…

Kinda.
