I tried and tried to draw something that actually looked like Laurie, but I rapidly came to the conclusion that attempting to draw a life-like Laurie would just end in anger, heart ache and divorce… not at all worth it, so please allow me to introduce you to Not-Laurie… a completely not-lifelike version of my spouse (at the time)… except for the polka dots… she has long held the belief that polka dots are an acceptable clothing option…
…I have never been able to wrap my mind around that!
Such is life though… so, I did actually get her ring from Granny… it seemed quite large at the time (it was the best I could afford), but I will now admit that it’s a wee bit… tiny… it’s a wonder she ever married me.
Fun trivia fact: She never actually said “yes”… she just sort of cried a little and then there was hugging and a bit of kissing… however, seeing as we’ll be hitting the big 25th anniversary this summer, I’m just going to take it on faith that she had, in fact, intended to…
If I’m wrong, I’m sure she’ll let me know, but I don’t know what I could do to rectify the situation now… buy her something with polka dots, I suppose…
