Bathroom humor… chalk it up to the continuing struggles with the flu…
Ah, the forties… in your twenties, you’re young, and the world is your oyster. In your thirties, you’re into your career, and nothing can stop you, and in your forties… things start to go just slightly wrong. That computer screen isn’t as sharp as it once was… it’s just that much harder to get up in the morning (‘cuz lets face it, you didn’t get a good night’s sleep, anyway), and certain foods don’t digest quite as efficiently as they used to (I’m looking at you onions). Nothing critical… nothing that’s going to stop you in your path to glory, but just enough to make you wonder… a first sip of mortality…
Neither here nor there, though, as the main reason for this missive is to inquire as to whether any of you have seen the above mentioned flick. The promos looked pretty funny, and I’m a big Paul Rudd fan, so I kind of want to see it, but Mr. Apatow has made exactly one movie that I liked, The Five Year Engagement, and really, I have to admit that it was a terrible movie… it just kind of worked for me… hopeless romantic, I suppose. So, the subject matter of 40 intrigues me, the cast is good, and the promos are funny, but Mr. Apatow’s tendency to leap for the bottom of the barrel and wallow in it has always just left me cold (says the guy who just made a gas joke). If I want lowest common denominator, I’ll kick it old school with Kevin Smith, thank you very much. At least the dialog is wittier.
So… This is 40… seen it? Is it worth the price of admission? Thought I should ask now before it disappears from the theaters entirely…

Too late I imagine, but went with my significant other 40 something. It certainly has highlights all us 40 somethings can relate to…and then there is the rest. Humorous just the same. Mostly I consider such flix rentals as they aren’t worth the big screen real estate or cost, but it was a date. Redbox it if you haven’t yet seen it…
Well, not at the theaters anymore, so a little late, but I never did go to see it. As it received the Chris stamp of approval, I will take the time to watch it wants it makes its way to cable…
