#599 – Wow, They Really Do Try to Keep It Secret…
So, I’m not really an MMO guy because I choose not to pay ongoing subscription fees for games… which is why I let me XBox Live lapse… but I’ve been intrigued by The Secret World since the first press releases, and with the recent announcement that they’ve gone free to play coupled with the holiday sales bringing the retail box down to $9.99 in many locations, well… I couldn’t resist! I snapped that puppy up.
So I’d like to tell you now what I think of the game. I’d really like to, but I can’t get the freakin’ think to install!!! It started with those stupid cyclic redundancy errors causing me to waste a day scanning drives and looking for bad sectors. For the record, I found exactly one indexing error but nothing else. When the DVDs still wouldn’t install, I tried the download client, and I swear to God it crapped out at the 15.8 or 15.9 GB point.
It made me angry…
…and the code doesn’t work in Steam, so I endeavor to carry on…
I don’t blame the publishers… I’m sure this is just the first puzzle in the game… only those who can solve the riddle of the install are worthy of entering The Secret World…
