Of course you realize that this doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of my games collection, don’t you? You can only put so much in a single photo, though.
So today’s comic started out life a little different. I was sitting at work and the image of a chibi vampire popped into my head. As is usual when such things happen, I called Brit and asked her to make a quick sketch for me. She managed to draw a chibi vamp that was almost, but not entirely, completely unlike what I was picturing in my head. However, here vamp was cute, too, so I started to ink when I got home that night. I like how he turned out, but I didn’t really have a script to go with him. I knew I wanted him on the game shelf, but I didn’t know why exactly. It wasn’t until earlier this morning that the idea for an affirmation came to mind. I mean after all… I’m good enough. I’m smart enough, and dog gone it. People like me! (Which, incidentally, may have been the last thing to come out of Al Franken’s mouth that was worth listening to).
In any case, while I had the camera out, I took a shot for an alternative strip. That strip can be found here. See what I did there? Same vampire, but the strip went an entirely different way. Gosh I feel so clever. ;-P
Regardless, while on the subject of gaming, I stumbled across this today. You may have to be an old school gamer to truly appreciate it, but I nearly failed to survive the reading of it as I was laughing so hard. Air is a precious, precious thing which I shall never take for granted again.
Finally, if you were to go looking for a code number in the Crumpler Bag contest, I’d probably start by looking for episode 188 of a Beer-labeled Lego comic. It may be a bit delayed as he’s having computer problems at the moment, but it will be there!

whoa, Paranoia? I *LOVE* that game! Haven’t played it in over a decade, though… nobody in my (old) gaming group ever wanted to run games — I was the default GM for just about everything, and got burned out. Haven’t really gamed (‘cept for quick tabletops like Settlers of Cataan, Pirates, RoboRally, etc.) for nearly a decade….
Yeah… finding a group is always the problem. I’m this close to just walking over to Get Your Game on on Saturdays and forcing my way into a group.
Paranoia is a *great* game! I have the new version of it around here somewhere…
Hooray!!! I’m awesome too!! I had to do a double take on that background. Thought that was a pic of MY game shelf! (Oh man.. remember those Talisman games that lasted all day and all night….)
P.S. Please send me Killer Bunnies and Savage Bunnies. ktksbai
P.P.S. to RunsWithLightning: I married the default gamemaster of our group. I knew you were cool! HAHAHA
Okay. Tell you what. I’ll give you Killer Bunnies and Savage Bunnies. Just show up at Penguicon to claim them!
Laurie and I haven’t tried the new Talisman yet. Just bought them. It’s going to be hard to beat Second Edition, though…
I, alas, am not awesome…haven’t played a single D&D game…
Well, it’s never too late. You ARE on a college campus… start looking at those bulletin boards! You’ll find a game.
I am also very unawesome, but I snorted through that HeadInjuryTheater article…..
Hey! I wanna do chibi characters too… haven’t done that.
I guess it just hits the right buttons, but I can’t even think of that article without giggling. I look forward to seeing Chibi Day at Tijauna.
It’s kinda sad how cozy the two Vampire books look, snuggled up together there. 🙁
Well, as rulebooks go, those two come out an awful lot as they are just good reading… Tends to have the effect of creating their own “space”.
Props on having Talisman. Love that game. What’s this “The reaper” expansion I see?
The Reaper expansion is for the 4th edition only. It’s a bit dark. The Grim Reaper, demons and spells.
If the Grim Reaper lands on you, you have to roll. Roll a ‘1’ and you die. The outcomes are 50% good and 50% bad.
Overall 90 new adventure cards, 26 spells, four characters, 12 Warlock quests and Grimmy himself. Pretty cool expansion.
