Wow! Saturday’s game was some ugly, ugly football. I’m pretty sure if we had put either team up against *any* Indiana high school football team, the college teams would have taken a beating. To be fair, though, the closest thing to resembling actual football was served up by IU’s team. I dare say that the quarterback even managed a few very pretty passes. So, hats off to you IU. It’s about time you guys got the bucket back for once!!!
…and of course, one can always count on Indiana University Football to bring some serious class to any sporting event… like when their player got ejected because he decided it would be a good thing to start wailing on the Purdue quarterback even though he was already on the ground… or when the IU team decided to come back onto the field to run a victory lap around the Marching Band during their post-game show (even though 99% of the crowd had already left)… as I say… nothing but class!
In any case, it was the end of a terrible season for both teams. Purdue burnt through about 50 quarterbacks due to injury and IU… well… the coach has been let go, so we’ll leave it at that…
Thanksgiving has come and gone which means, amongst other things, that Brittany finally has to stop yelling at me for listening to Christmas music. The holiday was good. The usual Turkey trot between family gatherings, of course, but it was good to see everyone. (The Turkey was VERY good, Mom!). It’s nice to be back home, though. Nothing like sleepy in your own (lumpy) bed! How were your holidays?

Pretty much agreed. Our own Fishers Tigers won the 5A state championship on Saturday and I feel fairly certain they would have taken the bucket home. Hell, they’re probably playing better than any Indiana team right now (ND and Colts no exclusion).
Travails took us to the land of Cleves for our annual turkey shoot. Good eats as usual and went out at 2am and snagged some black friday deals- first at Target (ugly bumrush there, let me tell you) and then at Staples (they do it right, let me tell you).
Bring on Christmas!
Amen, my brother. This is my second year running where I’ve successfully avoided the Black Friday mess… well, I did try and get an $89 Kindle at Amazon, but as I was in my jammies, I don’t think that counts! Even Laurie and Brittany stayed out of the mix which was amazing!
Yeah, yeah! Sore loser! EAT IT! BWAHAHAHA!!
And best of all, the crappy coach was fired the next day. ‘Twas a rare good weekend for I.U. football.
And I won’t even mention your basketball team losing to Richmond. Oops, I just did! Top 25, my rump… 😉 Yes, the sports gods smote the evil ones…truly, a weekend to give thanks!
No, no… as I said above if either team *deserved* to win (they didn’t), it was IU. They were playing recognizable football (badly, but Purdue was worse). I harbor no ill will regarding the loss (and really, it made for a better punchline than yet *another* win against IU), but you can’t ask a Boilermaker to stop ribbing IU… it’s just not done!
As per the basketball team, when have the Boiler men *ever* done well in a tournament? I don’t know what it is about these guys, but they *always* flub it. I’m not sure they understand the “one loss and you’re out” concept. Hummel’s re-tearing his ACL is going to be a big loss, but we should do well enough this year.
I’m sure we’ll beat IU, anyways…
Sadly, you’ll probably be right on that account. I’d be happy with a series split this year…next year’s when it’s gonna get interesting, methinks.
Indeed. The schedule is weird, though… kinda squished the games together this year..
You’re also assuming that, if there were any, they could hit you if they wanted to.
