So, yeah… pulled the whole story because I couldn’t stand the drawing. Knee is getting a little better, so here’s the redraw of page two… still took about ten drawing sessions and still looks like crap, but such is life.
I spent a lot of time in that store as a kid. The one thing I remember most was the charm spinning display she had on the counter. I would go through that thing every time I was in the store. You never know, there might have been a new cross or peach blossom or something.
I can only assume that we were somewhat annoying to Granny… kids in a jewelry store is a recipe for disaster, but she never seemed to mind…. and the store owner was there most of the time and never seemed to complain either… it was a simpler world.
Oh… and the key to the squirrel is to simmer it at a lower temperature once it’s browned… and it goes really well with fresh black pepper!
