Welcome to another exciting edition of Dungeons and Dragons Theater where we ponder why there never seems to be any pants… I know when I go dungeon crawling, I’m a big fan of pants… and come to think of it, armor? What are we to assume that all the monsters in the dungeon will be following the Marquis of Queensbury rules and not take a swipe anywhere below the belt?!? I’m pretty sure that if I see someone running at me with deadly intent in their eyes, I’d have no problem taking a whack at their unexposed legs and finishing them off whilst their on the ground bleeding…
…but that’s just me.
I’ve never actually played White Plume Mountain. I used to own it, and wanted to GM it. I snagged it off the shelf back in the day because I was fascinated by the image on the back cover:
That image of a sword that seemed to be made of star stuff… and image of the universe itself… why it set a young man’s imagination on FIRE! It was at least 47 types of awesome. 47! However, we never actually played… I’m pretty sure at this point we were fairly fully dedicated to wiping out each and every entry in the Dieties and Demigods tome. Nothing like a quiver of unlimited arrows of god-slaying to take your games to ridiculous levels!
With this it seems, I have touched upon every S module except ‘Caverns’… I’ll have to read through it again to refresh my memories before I can make any valid comments on that particular adventure though…

Not that I played as often or as intensely as you, but it never seemed to matter to me what module was being played, the GM would stretch the rules and my characters would die ignominiously…a lot…
I am no fan of pants, in many instances anyway, but I am a fan of contrasting backgrounds and text. For some reason this page is displaying with black text on charcoal background. had to highlight the text to read it!?
Really? What browser are you using? I’m seeing the appropriate black text on light grey.
I had just done a windows update. Interestingly, it flashed and displayed correctly after I hit the post button…
Well then, with your permission, I will just chalk that up to a momentary oddity and not sweat it!
