God, I miss TechTV. The ScreenSavers, Call for Help and X-Play were wonderful, wonderful things.
When Comcast bought TechTV and merged it with their god awful G4 network, we knew something bad would happen, but I don’t think we were prepared for the total evisceration that occurred. Call for Help was cancelled immediately. ScreenSavers was continued, but without Leo Laporte or Patrick Norton, the show fell in to serious decline until it finally morphed into the abomination that is Attack of the Show.
X-Play was the network’s last redeeming show. Morgan and Adam know their stuff and do a good job, but every time I watch the bloody show, it is a little less review and a little more industry "news" and game trailers. The show is a shell of itself, and that is sad…
Daaaaad….. you got the name wrong. It’s “Tales of Destiny Director’s Cut: Lion Side” It makes a big difference. Because there was Tales of Destiny, the Tales of Destiny remake, Tales of Destiny Directors cut, and THEN the ToD DX Lion side. *pokes* you must remember that… and flaunt my art… which I drew s everal months ago.
A pox upon me. At least I didn’t muck up your drawing by inking it badly…
True, there is way too much shilling on G4 these days. And I go way back…hell, I remember occasionally watching ZDNet, or whatever the hell it was before TechTV. Kate Botello was a REAL geek girl hottie!
Still, you must commend them for not killing Ninja Warrior and Unbeatable Bansuke with a stupid English “comedy” overdub, like Spike or other networks would have. Japanese wackiness FTW!
It’s not really G4’s fault, of course. It was a bad network before the merge, so the outcome was predictable. Just a shame is all.
Never really felt that strongly about Kate…Morgan and Sarah were nice though…
As per the Japanese shows, there are only two ways to go: leave it untainted as performance art or go with an americanization…they chose rightly.
