Remember when people were freaking out during the Reagan years because of a three trillion dollar national deficit? Well, G Dub has given half a trillion in this year alone! Don’t get me wrong, I thought my stimulus check was a godsend like everyone else, but you can’t get out of debt by borrowing more money which is all the program accomplished. More importantly, of course, is the war which continues to drag on…and on…and on…
And barring some drastic action from the next President it will continue to drag on because Iraq is headed for a civil war, and the powers that be seem determined to stop it. But here’s the dirty little secret, outside of total suppression of the population, an outside force can not stop a civil war…they can only delay it.
So, no medal for President Dubya…besides…if he did get a medal, we’d probably have to melt it down to save a bank…
Wow. Reading this in Feb. 2009, that last sentence seems more ominous or prescient than funny.
Well, all the signs were there at the time. It was an odd year as I spent most of my time rallying for the democratic side, and this from a guy that (previously) didn’t really discuss politics and is, in fact, a republican. However, I never side with a party over the right person for the job.
