Jesus…the world’s in trouble when I’m the one spouting environmental messages. This is going to get me another warning message from the RNC, isn’t it? Well, I’ve always said that my vote is decided by the issues, not by team colors…

In any case, did you all enjoy the news stories all week long about how the arctic circle can provide enough oil to supply the world for three years?

Wow!

…Uhm…what happens when we use up that oil though? We need a better plan is all I’m saying…

I am, I admit, an unabashed fan of the electric car concept. I realize that it’s not a perfect solution with current battery technology, but it’s not a bad solution either. With the previous design, it was a good commuting car for the typical American suburban dweller, and we’ve come a long way in ten years. For those that don’t want an electric car…well…I’ve spoken of hybrids before. Heck, the typical two car family would be very well served by an electric car and a hybrid, so why doesn’t some failing auto manufacturer give it a chance? Are you listening GM/Saturn?!? Toyota, I know you got screwed on battery patents, but as long as you are changing the batteries on the Prius, why not bring back the RAV4 EV? Those things are still on the road after all of these years!

Yes, the cars are more expensive until they are mass produced at a larger scale than currently being used, but it’s not all about costing less. If the world…heck even if just America switched over to EVs and Hybrids, we would burn a LOT less oil (remember, that even if we’re just switching the energy production from the engine to the grid, energy plants are *much* more efficient that the internal combustion engine!)…and that *is* the point…
