So, no, not actually a comic strip for today, but I thought I’d take a moment to show you what I’ve been up to lately. I’m playing with different drawing styles… trying to move on from simple flat images. I’ve learned a lot about brushes and modes in the last few days, and I think that there is some potential here. It just needs some further development.
So what’s with the Grim Reaper News Guy? Well, this particular image is for the self-promotional contest going on over at Frumph.net. It seems the webcomics world is going to WAR!!! I like this particular contest because it highlights those behaviors which any webcomic artist should be investing time in. Feel free to peek at the rules to see what I mean. The lone wolf route is great and all, but if you’re not interacting with other webcartoonists on a regular basis, your missing a golden opportunity to learn. …and if you’re not taking the time to interact with your audience… well… why are you making comics in the first place?
In any case, wish me luck. Brit has finals this week, so she’s given me the sketches for the next week, already, and I’m thinking it’s about time for another episode of Dungeons and Dragons Theater. We’ll see. I have all the strips through mid-February scripted already, but I’ll probably sneak it in anyway at some point.
