The boss needs to speak to you before you go can mean a lot of things, but one thing it never means is that you will be getting home soon! It’s a shame he trashed that cup of coffee because I’m pretty sure he’s going to need it.

This isn’t a case of art mimicking life is it?
Well, I do have that strange obsession with the Beats, but come on… when has my boss ever wanted to talk to me?!? He does his thing. I do mine. Everyone is happy.
I was at one place a few years ago, where my boss dreaded talking to me… mostly because, if I asked to speak with him, it generally meant that I’d found some major security and/or performance flaw in another developer’s code. (Except for that one time, when the conversation was about me handing him my two weeks’ notice…. he still didn’t like it, but at least it didn’t mean the servers were at risk.)
Though didn’t your leaving mean the servers were automatically headed towards risk? A flock without a shepherd and all…
