Okay… enough with the badger farms, but it still strikes me as odd… and a bit smelly… I think I’ll see if there are synthetic shaving brushes available when this one wears out…
In any case, this was an odd comic to create. I started in photoshop as usual but rapidly became creatively blocked during the d’inking. So… I switched over to Manga Studio 5 to complete the inking. The eagle-eyed can probably spot which bits are PS and which bits are MS. I normally don’t get very far when I open MS, but Mark Savary of Autumn Lake and Dreaming of Utopia had sent me a link to a tutorial on Digital Water Color in MS which, while I still can’t produce a decent water color, shed the life on enough features that I could finally make use of the program. I actually like the inking tools in MS, though I notice the black isn’t actually black… I’ll have to look into that.
In any case, I still don’t have my mind wrapped around the coloring tools, so I saved to a psd in MS and did my usual coloring in PS. It’s actually a nice combination, though I’m told that once I learn the rest of MS5, I’ll never feel the need to go back into PS for comics. We’ll see…
